8. The Flower Feast / The Festival of the Cherry Blossoms(花宴)

Passage
Everyone must be asleep. But no; a very agreeable young voice with an intonation which was certainly not that of any waiting-woman or common person was softly humming the last two lines of the Oborozuki-yo.
Poetry also became a point of contact when Genji reunited with her. The aristocrats of this era were connected by education.

Summary
The season of cherry blossoms. On his way home after attending a party, Genji meets a woman who is humming a poem (Oborozukiyo). Genji spends the night with Oborozukiyo. Replace the fan and leave.
A month later, the season of wisteria flowers. Genji and Oborozukiyo meet again.

Comment
Oborozukiyo is the younger sister of the Lady Kokiden. She was decided to enter the inner palace of next emperor, but Genji stole her chastity. It's a new scandal. Genji is not as rough as Don Juan. But more reckless than him.
