42. Niou / His Perfumed Highness(匂宮)
Passage
The longing to discover the real facts about his origin continually haunted him. Was he fated to spend his whole life with this uneasy thought perpetually like a shadow at his side? If only he were possessed of the art that enabled the Resourceful Prince to dispose so easily of a similar doubt! And he recited to himself the poem: "Who, who will rid me of my doubts? For groping now I know not whither I am carried nor whence into this world I came."
Kaoru harbors doubts about his own birth. Those doubts have a negative impact on the development of his personality.
Summary
A few years after the death of Genji.There is no one who can replace him. but,There were two nobles known for their beauty.
The son of the Emperor and Princess Akashi, ---Niou.
The son of Genji and Nyosan, ---Kaoru.
The two have contrasting personalities but get along well. They attend a party at Yugiri's Rokujo residence.
