My favorite Genji

In popular commentaries, The Tale of Genji is introduced as a love story. However, love is not the only theme of Genji.(If The Godfather was just a movie about violence, would everyone love it?)

In the 18th century.philological scholar Norinaga Motoori expressed the essence of Genji as "mono no aware".This word is difficult to translate into English.but it could say "sentiment of fate".

Genji was a man of shining beauty, admired by many women, and acquired a large mansion and a high position.But He couldn't escape from the sorrow and pain of living.I feel sublime in that depiction.
